PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION
SUBJECT: FINAL ACCEPTANCE - LAURELWOOD R.V. STORAGE FACILITY
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Tustin City Council accept the improvements constructed as the
Laurelwood R.V. storage facility and authorize the recordation of the
notice of completion for said improvements with the adoption of the
attached resolution.
BACKGROUND:
The subject project included improvements to the Laurelwood R.V. storage
facility to replace those improvements which were acquired as part of
the right-of-way for the Tustin Ranch/I-5 interchange project. These
improvements included the relocation of the original parking lot to an
area within the old abandoned railroad right-of-way adjacent to the
Laurelwood development.
DISCUSSION:
All work on this project has been completed by the contractor, Modern
Asphalt, Inc., to the satisfaction of the Public Works Department/
Engineering division. The final contract amount for this project was
$188,945.48, resulting in a contract overrun of 12%, or $20,653.33.
This overrun consisted of additional parking lot excavation and replace-
ment due to deteriorated pavement, additional height to the blockwalls
adjacent to the residential community, and miscellaneous irrigation
system modifications.
This project was funded by Assessment District No. 85-1 as a part of the
Tustin Ranch Road Interchange project.
The attached resolution accepts the works of improvements and authorizes
the recordation of the notice of completion for the subject R.V. storage
facility improvements. Staff requests the City Council to pass and
adopt this resolution.
