SUBJECT: AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF EAST TUSTIN MEDIAN
ISLAND LANDSCAPING AND IRRIGATION
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Tustin City Council at their meeting of September 17, 1990
award the contract for the subject project to the low bidder, Tracy &
Haigh Landscape, Inc., of Rancho Santa Margarita, in the amount of
$398,868.50.
BACKGROUND:
This proposed contract provides for the installation of median island
landscaping, irrigation and hardscape improvements along the following
streets in East Tustin. .
* Tustin Ranch Road between Irvine Boulevard and Jamboree Road
* Jamboree Road between Irvine Boulevard and Tustin Ranch Road
* Irvine Boulevard between westerly city boundary and Jamboree Road
* Portola Parkway between Tustin Ranch Road and Jamboree Road
* La Colina Drive between the westerly city boundary and
Tustin Ranch Road
On July 16, 1990 the Tustin City Council approved the plans and speci-
fications for the subject project and authorized the advertisement of
bids for said work. This project will be funded by Assessment District
86-2.
DISCUSSION:
Fourteen sealed bids were received and opened at 10:30 a.m. on August
30, 1990 and are summarized as follows:

The low bid is 20.28% under the engineer's estimate of $500,334.00.
It is anticipated that construction will start in early October of this
year and be completed in early February, 1991.
