That the Tustin City Council, at their regular meeting of November 19, 1990, authonze s �t8�i�� ce
a purchase order to DEV/CON, Inc. 983 N.
Main Street, Orange, CA 92667 in the amount of
$14,161.25 for the purchase of two portable chlorination units, and pertinent safety equipment and
training. It is also requested that the remaining budgeted funds be carried over for the installation of
permanent chlorination equipment in FY 91-92.
BACKGROUND
City Council authorized the Water Service Division to solicit bids for two portable chlorination units at
a cost of $30,000 on September 4, 1990.
These units are needed to meet State Department of Health Services requirements for the rapid
chlorination of all groundwater sources in cases of emergency.
Additionally, proposed United States Environmental Protection Agency regulations will require future
installation of permanent chlorination facilities at all groundwater sources.
DISCUSSION.•
Requests for bids were solicited from eight chlorination equipment suppliers. Three bids were received
on October 17, 1990 and are as follows:
DEV/CON, Inc. - $14,161.25
Chlorinators & Controls, Inc. - $15,174.30
MATT CHLOR, Inc. - $16,714.00
(NOTE. The above bids reflect the inclusion of applicable sales tax.)
The low bidder, DEV/CON, Inc., proposed to furnish alternate equipment. Staff`' has evaluated the
Proposed substitute and feels it meets the City's requirements and is -an acceptable -" roved Equal ".
