PLACEMENT OF STORAGE CONTAINER ON PUBLIC PROPERTY -INFORMATIONAL REPORT
RECOMMENDATION:
Receive and file.
BACKGROUND:
The property owner Mr. Bruce Austin at 1972 Yolanda Way has requested permission
to place a storage container in the public street adjacent to the curb in front
of his residence for a period of three months. Mr. Austin indicated he will be
storing his furniture and tools during the remodel and expansion of his residence
at 1972 Yolanda Way.
Section 7224 of the Tustin City Code permits the placement of a container of this
type subject to the written approval of the City Engineer and any conditions that
he/she may impose.
Staff has reviewed the site at 1972 Yolanda Way and found the placement of the
container to be acceptable to certain conditions being met by the requesting
party. Yolanda Way is a short cul de sac street located northerly of Mitchell
Ave. and westerly of Browning Ave. Eight parcels take access from Yolanda Way.
Mr. Austin has submitted written confirmation from five of the seven residences
on Yolanda Way that they do not object to the placement of the container.
Staff will authorize placement of the storage container in front of Mr. Austin's
residence subject to the following conditions:
1. Container must be placed adjacent to curb and only in front of the Austin
property at 1972 Yolanda Way.
2. Container must be equipped with reflective markings for night visibility
or reflective type barricades placed adjacent to container.
3. Container shall be placed in the public street for a period not to exceed
90 days.
4. Requesting party shall indemnify City in the amounts and format to be
approved by the City Attorney.
This report is for informational purposes only and requires no specific City
Council action.
