HomeMy WebLinkAboutNB 2 STREET WIDENING 06-19-89TO: WILLIAM HUSTON, CITY MANAGER FROM: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION SUBJECT: AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR STREET WIDENING/TRAFFIC SIGNAL IMPROVE- MENTS AT NORTHEAST CORNER OF RED HILL AND WALNUT, AHFP #1218 ,, , RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council at their meeting of June 19, 1989 award the contract for subject project to Excel Paving Company of Long Beach, California, in the amount of $197,296.00. · BACKGROUND: On May 1, 1989, the City Council approved plans and specifications and authorized the advertisement for bids on the subject project. DISCUSSION: Sealed bids for this work were opened on June 12, 1989 at 10 a.m. were received as follows: Excel paving Co., Long Beach ................... $197,296.00 Sully-Miller Contracting Co., Orange ........ ~...$201,755.40 Excalibur Contracting Co., Irvine ............. $217,856.06 Modern Asphalt,Inc., Long Beach ............... $218,345.70 Bay District Paving, Gardena~? ..... ' ............ $220,794.30 General Procurement, Inc., Costa Mesa ......... $232,278.69 R. J. Noble Co., Orange ....................... $236,792.10 and This project is being funded through the Arterial Highway Financing Program (AHFP) which participates on a'fifty (50) percent basis with the local agency on all AHFP-eligible construction items. All non- eligible items would be funded 100% by the City. The. distribution of allocated funding for this project, which includes design and construction engineering costs as well as construction contract costs, is as follows: County AHFP .................. There is presently allocated a total of $85,000.00 in the FY 1988-39 budget for the City's share of these improvements.
