HomeMy WebLinkAboutNB 4 EQUIP PURCHASE 06-19-89TO: WILLIAM HUSTON, CITY MANAGER FROM: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/FIELD SERVICES SUBJECT: EQUIPMENT PURCHASE REQUEST RECOMMENDATION: Request that the Tustin City Council, at their regular meeting of June 19, 1989, authorize the purchase of a replacement Aerial Truck from Morrison Industries Inc., in the amount of $79,387.64. BACKGROUND: The Aerial Truck was authorized as a replacement item in the 1988 - 89, Fiscal Year Budget, under the City's Equipment Lease Fund. Council authorized solicitation of bids for the purchase of the Aerial Truck on September 6, 1988: Bids were received until 10:00 a.m., in the office of the City Clerk on June 12, 1989. The specifications for the Aerial Truck up -. graded several f~atures which staff feels will increase the life of the equipment and enhance its use in the field. They are as follows: A. An auxiliary engine to power hydraulic system. This eliminates the need for the main truck engine to run during boom operations. a. Increased the length of boom from 40' to 50' and provided for greater articulation of the lift arm. Increased the GVW of the chasSis to accommodate the additional weight of the boom and provide for greater stability. I I I The Iow bid received is 24% ($15,587.64) over the amount appropriated in the Lease Fund. The mst will bo adiustod in the City's Equipment Lease Fund in subsequent years.
