"~ ~ .~ ~~ ~ ~,~ ~x 7-17-89 Inte - Com DATE: JULY 11, 1989 ~~~ TO: WILLIAM HUSTON, CITY MANAGER FROM: PUBLIC WORKS/FIELD SERVICES SUBJECT: CARPETING FOR FIELD SERVICE OFFICES RECOMMENDATIONS: Request that the Tustin City Council at their regular meeting of July 17, 1989 award a contract to Carpetime for the installation of carpet at the Field Services office, in the amount of $2,549.25. Further recommend that the $2,500.00 budgeted in fiscal year 1988-89 be carried over to fiscal year 1989-90 as the work will not be completed until the first quarter of the current fiscal year. BACKGROUND: Bids for the installation of the carpet were originally solicited in May 1989. One bid was received from Carpetime in Santa Ana in the amount of $3,374.14. On staffs recommendation, City Council rejected the bid on June 19, 1989. The project was redefined and bids were again received on June 29, 1989. Again, only one bid, in the amount of $2,549.25 was received.' The 1988-89 fiscal year budget provided $2,500.00 to carpet the Field Service offices. The additional funds, in the amount of $49.25, will be taken from other capital items budgeted in fiscal year 1989-90.
