That the City Council, at their regular meeting of August 7, 1989, approve the
Public Works Departments' recommendation on tree removals as shown on the
attached exhibit.
BACKGROUND:
The attached is a consolidation of requests which has been received from various
property owners regarding trees within the public-right-of-way. In all cases, with
the exception of commercial areas, adjacent property owners have been surveyed and
the results are so indicated.
The trees will be removed and replaced by City crews. Replacement will be with a
tree of acceptable species from the City's approved list, as stated in the specific
recommendation.

would cost $375.00. To trim would be $150.00.

That the City trim, root prune and leave the tree in place.
ESTIMATED COST:
To trim and root prune cost is $200.00.
To remove and replace with a Crape Myrtle or Magnolia, with
root barriers would be $375.00.

This is a healthy Camphor Tree with an extensive root system
that is starting to put pressure on the sidewalk.

RECOMMENDATION:
That the City leave this tree intact as it has recently been
trimmed and root pruned.
ESTIMATED COST:
To remove and replace with a smaller Camphor Tree with root
barrier is $400.00.

ESTIMATED COST:
To remove Tristania and replace with a small palm would cost
$375.OO.

RECOMMENDATION:
That the City leave this tree intact at this time. When tree
appears to be causing damage allow it to be removed. The tree
was trimmed on July 24, 1989.
ESTIMATED COST:
Remove and replace with a young Carrotwood or Myrtle and
root barrier would cost $315.00.
