FROM: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION
SUSJ£GT: AUTHORIZATION TO ADVERTISE BIDS FOR JAMBOREE ROAD STREET
IMPROVEMENTS, TUSTIN RANCH ROAD TO CHAPMAN AVE. (RELOCATED)
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Tustin City CounciI at their meeting of August 7, 1989 adopt
the attached resolution approving the revised plans and specifications
for street improvements along Jamboree Road between Tustin Ranch Road
and Chapman Avenue (Relocated), and directing the city clerk to
advertise for bids.
BACKGROUND:
In February 1989, the city council authorized the advertisement of bids
for street improvements and various utilities for that portion of
Jamboree Road between Tustin Ranch Road and Chapman Avenue (Relocated).
Due to a conflict with three major water pipelines in the general
vicinity of Canyon View Road in the City of Orange, it became necessary
to suspend the bid advertisement process until such time the water main
conflict could be resolved. The city council terminated the bid
advertisement process for this segment of Jamboree Road in May 1989.
Ail of the water main conflicts have been conceptually resolved with
Municipal Water District of Orange County (MWDOC) due to the lowering of
the Jamboree Road profile in the general vicinity of the conflict and
the future replacement of a segment of the A.M.P. water main when a
shutdown of the pipeline can be scheduled in January 1990.
This project includes the street improvements and various utilities
along Jamboree Road in both the cities of Orange and Tustin. Funding
will be provided by both City of Orange Assessment District No. 86-1,
and City of Tustin Assessment District No. 86-2. Properties in both
Orange and Tustin within Assessment District No. 2 will be assessed for
their proportional share of improvements of the project. Additionally,
this project includes both domestic and reclaimed water facilities which
are not funded by the assessment districts, but will be funded
separately by the Irvine Ranch Water District per a previous agreement.
These street improvements will provide for curbs, gutters, paving,
traffic signals, street lights and utility infrastructure.
DISCUSSION:
The estimated cost for this project is as follows:

Irvine Ranch Water District funds ........
Total estimate
$5,990,688.50
