TO:
WILLIAM HUSTON, CITY MANAGER
FROM: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION
SUBJECT: PLACEMENT OF STOP SIGNS AT THE ALDER/FIG TREE AND BROWNING/
~ SIERRA VISTA INTERSECTIONS
RECOMMENDATION'.
That the Tustin City Council at their meeting of August 21, 1989 pass
and adopt the attached resolution authorizing the placement of stop
signs at subject intersections in the City of Tustin.
BACKGROUND:
The recommended stop sign at Alder and Fig Tree was requested by a
member of the city's planning commission. The stop sign recommendation
for Browning and Sierra Vista resulted from on-going traffic engineering
safety investigations.
· DISCUSSION:
The city's consultant traffic engineer has reviewed both of the above
intersection locations and determined that Fig Tree traffic should be
constrolled with a stop sign at Alder, and Sierra Vista traffic should
be stopped at Browning. These installations will provide improved right
of way assignment and will enhance intersection safety.
The attached resolution authorizes the installation of stop signs at the
intersections and it is requested that the city council pass and adopt
same.
