HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC 9 STOP SIGNS 08-21-89CUNS~Ni b~L~RU~K TO: WILLIAM HUSTON, CITY MANAGER FROM: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION SUBJECT: PLACEMENT OF STOP SIGNS AT THE ALDER/FIG TREE AND BROWNING/ ~ SIERRA VISTA INTERSECTIONS RECOMMENDATION'. That the Tustin City Council at their meeting of August 21, 1989 pass and adopt the attached resolution authorizing the placement of stop signs at subject intersections in the City of Tustin. BACKGROUND: The recommended stop sign at Alder and Fig Tree was requested by a member of the city's planning commission. The stop sign recommendation for Browning and Sierra Vista resulted from on-going traffic engineering safety investigations. · DISCUSSION: The city's consultant traffic engineer has reviewed both of the above intersection locations and determined that Fig Tree traffic should be constrolled with a stop sign at Alder, and Sierra Vista traffic should be stopped at Browning. These installations will provide improved right of way assignment and will enhance intersection safety. The attached resolution authorizes the installation of stop signs at the intersections and it is requested that the city council pass and adopt same.
