CURBING DOGS
At the August 7, 1989 City Council meeting, concern was expressed
over the increased frequency with which dogs are deficating in
public places and the owners are not picking up the deposits .
Tustin City Code Section 4211 adopts the Orange County codes that
specifically apply to this section. Orange County Code Article 2,
Section 4-1-50, reads as follows:
"A person having custody of any dog shall not permit either
willfully or through failure to exercise due care or control,
any such dog to deficate or urinate upon a) a public sidewalk
or parkway comprising the area between the street and the
sidewalk; b) the floor of any common hall in an apartment
house, tenement house, motel or multiple dwelling; c) any
entranceway, stairway or wall immediately abutting on a
public sidewalk; d) the f~oor of any theater, shop, store,
office building, or other, building used by the public; or e)
any city park or beach.
The person having custody of any dog shall immediately remove
any' feces deposited by such dog."
We will attempt to take the appropriate enforcement act ion when a
violation is brought to our attention.
