HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC 7 STOP SIGNS 09-05-89TO: WILLIAM HUSTON, CITY MANAGER FROM: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION SU84ECT: PLACEMENT OF STOP SIGNS - VARIOUS LOCATIONS RECOMMENDATION,: That the Tustin City Council at their meeting of September 5, 1989 pass and adopt the attached resolution authorizing the placement of stop signs at various locations. DISCUSSION: As part of the City's ongoing evaluations of residential areas, numerous locations haVe been identified where stop signs are required. When such devices have not been installed, drivers tend to travel faster than normal - especially around corners. Therefore, as part of neighborhood traffic control needs, the identified stop sign locations will provide more positive, speed controls at intersections through better right-of- way assignment. The city's traffic engineer has identified eleven (11) intersections. Six of these locations are intersections with Raintree Road, two are respective intersections with Alder Lane and Fig Tree Drive, and one is an intersection with Apple Tree. The following identifies the specific intersection locations and stop directions. 1. Raintree Road intersections with: (a) Fig Tree Drive (four-way stop) (b) Basswood Circle (stop westbound Basswood only) (c) Sable Tree Circle (stop westbound Sable Tree only) (d) Caper Tree Drive (stop eastbound/westbound Caper Tree only) (e) Silk Tree Drive (stop eastbound/westbound Silk Tree only) (f) Coco Palm Drive (stop eastbound/westbound Coco Palm only) 2.
