BACKGROUND At the City Council meeting on August 21, 1989, Hr. Dick Rupe, Manager for faciltty maintenance for CMS Enhancements located at 15501 Redhill Avenue, identified a number of issues he had encountered related to installation of high stock storage at their facility. Prior to this meeting Brett reviewed all available file documentation regarding our department's requirements of CMS Enhancements. The chronology of events are outlined as follows: September 7, 1988 - .. orange County Fire Department original ..tenant improvement plans review report indicating high-pile stock limitations ~ovember 3, 1988 - Inspection by Orange County Fire Inspector Stol1 - correction notice issued to reduce storage height or upgrade building to required standards December 1, 1988 - Letter to orange County Fire Department from CMS Enhancements expressing appreciation for cooperation with regard to interim measures. December 5, 1988 - Meeting with all interested parties to agree upon required corrective action · christine Shingleton August 28, 1989 Page 2 December 9, 1988 - Letter to Orange County Fire Department from CMS Enhancements consultant,'" outlining agreed upon corrective actions. January 30i 1989 - Revised correction notice issued to. CMS Enhancements to proceed with consultants recommendations. March 20, 1989 Orange County Fire Department sends pre-citation letter to CMS Enhancements. May 8, 1989 July 5, 1989 July 11, 1989 - Smoke Hatch plans approved by Orange. County Fire Department. Orange County Fire Department issues Plans Review Report for rack installation submitted. Letter to .orange.. county Fire Department from CMS Enhancements outlining progress to date. August 16, 1989 Architect responds to Fire Department Plans review of July 5, 1989. During this meeting Brett-asked Mr. Rupee to articulate his concerns. Mr. Rupee stated that he felt that t~.0range County Fire Department had been ,,co0~erative, supp°rtive and fair" throughout the entire period. Mr. Rupee further stated that the Fire bepartment had been "lenient" with regard to time frame requirements for corrective action. During this meeting Brett also attempted to clarify the Fire Department's position regarding UFC requirements. Mr. Rupee stated that he was very familiar with the Fire Departments requirements. Furthermore, Mr. Rupee agreed with the statement that the existing documentation reflects a consistent, and supportive approach to required corrections. Mr. Rupee expressed appreciation of Inspector Stoll's cooperation throughout the process. In summary, the Fire Department will continue to pursue corrective action by CMS Enhancements as required by the Uniform Fire Code. christine shingleton August 28, 1989 Page 3 At this point CMS Enhancements appears to be making progress to that end. Additionally, the Fire Depart~ment will be available to assist with technical questions arising during this transition period.
