TUSTIN CITY COUNCIL
July 20, 1964
Meeting called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Mayor Sheridan.
Pledge of AllegianSe.
Present: Sheridan, Klingelhofer, Mack, Coco
Absent: Doney
Also Present: Attorney Rourke, Chief Siseel, Chief Hilton
Wheelock, Brook, Mr. Haworth arrived at 8:10.
GEORGE Letter of resignation from Mr. George Doney read.
DONEY
RESIGNATION Moved by Mack, seconded by Klingelhofer that resignation
ACCEPTED of George Doney be accepted with regret and resolution
drafted commending Mr. Doney on his enumerable services
and untiring efforts for the City of Tustin. Carried.
Moved by Mack, seconded by Klingelhofer that Minutes of
July 6th Regular Meeting and J~ly 15th Special Meeting
be approved as mailed. Carried.
SHERIDAN Moved by Mack, seconded by Coco that Mayor Sheridan be
REP. ON appointed primary representative on Sanitation Districts
SANITATION #1 and #7 and Councilman Ronald Klingelhofer be appointed
DISTRICTS alternate ~epresentative to said Districts #1 and #7-

SHERIDAN I Due to the vacancy created by the resignation of Mr. Doney
VOLUNTEER Mayo~ Sheridan volunteered to temporarily assume the duties
FIRE COMM. of the Fire Commissioner.
CUL-DE-SAC Moved by Mack, seconded by Coco that permission be granted
PASADENA & the Public Works Director to have steps installed at cul-
MYRTLE de-sac at Pasadena and Myrtle in lieu of existing ramp.
Cost not to exce~d $250.00. Carried.
ORD.FIXING As per request of Mr. Wheelock, the City Attorney was
SPEED LIMIT directed to draft an Ordinance fixing the maximum speed
ON MCFADDEN limit on McFadden Avenue from Willisms Street to Newport
AND WILLIAMS Avenue at 35 miles per hour.
Mayor in~ited any interested citizens to submit a letter
requesting appointment to the City Council to fill the
existing vacancy.
RESIG. OF Resignation from City Engineer Jack Carlsen read. Council
JACK CARLSEN action on this resignation deferred until after adoption
DEFERRED of 1964-65 budget.
CORR.. ORANGE Correspondence from Orange County Chapter, Engineering and
COUNTY CHART. Grading Contractors Association read and referred to the
ENG. GRADING City Attorney, Public Works Director and Building Official
CONT. ASSOC. for report and consideration at next regular meeting.
PHILLIPINES Mr. Sheridan explained request that Tustin become a Sister

RESOL. 725 Moved by Klingelhofer, seconded by Mack that Resolution
PASSED 725 approving Agreement with the State regarding maintenance
ADOPTED of State Highways be passed and adopted. Carried by roll.call.

Moved by Klingelhofer, seconded by Mack that the City OF

Mayor aopointed the following to revised committee to study COMMITTEE
ordinance regarding city administrator: William Moses, TO STUDY

proposed ordinance with minor changes and deliver copies CITY ADMIN.
to Mr. Moses. Committee to return within 30 days with
recommendations regarding ordinance and beliefs as to need
for administrator.

SOIL TESTS Tests and Material Control Tests. Carried.

No. 731 "A Resolution of Intention to Abandon and Vacate
a Portion of a Public Street at First and Newport Avenue

be amended to delete the words "and adopted" - carried.
Original motion regarding Personne~ Survey carried as
amended.
Mayor directed that each Commissioner review State Personnel
Sur~ey with their department head and report at a Study Session
Monday, 7 P.M. July 27th in Old Council Chambers.

Moved by MaCk, seconded by Coco that the Building Department
be authorized to hire an electrical inspector as of August
4th at a salary to be determined by study survey and approved
by the Council. Carried.
PUBLIC WORKSM°ved by Mack, seconded by Coco that Public Works Director
DIRECTOR be authorized to advertise for a City Engineer and a Secretary

Chief Hilton reported that three men had passed both JACK
written and oral tests for fire fighting work and recommended CLABORN
that Jack Claborn be employed as of August 1st and that HIRED
th~ other two men be placed on an eligibility list. FOR FIRE
