HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1964 07 06 299 MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING TUSTIN CITY COUNCIL July 6, 1964 Meeting called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Mayor Sheridan. Pledge of Allegiance. Present: Sheridan, Klingethofer, Doney, Mack, Coco. :Absent:' None. Also Present: A~torney Bryant representing Mr. Rourke, Chief Sissel, Chief Hilton, Wheelock Brook, Haworth, Carlsen, Williamson. Moved by Doney, seconded by Coco that Minutes of June 29th Regular Adjourned Meeting be approved as mailed. Carried. Mr. Haworth recommended that General Plan Study Committee meeting be tentatively scheduled for July 22nd and that the Secretary from Planning Department be authorized to attend ~eetings. Moved by Klingelhofer, seconded by Coco that Planning Plan Department Secretary be authorized to attend next Dept. General Plan Study at straight basic hourly wage or Sec. to compensating t~me off. Carried. attend meeting Mr. Sheridan removed himself fnom the General Plan Study Committee and appointed Councilman Mack to Mack said Committee. appt.to committe Moved by Doney, seconded by Mack that Hearing 'for N abandonment of certain property at First and ewport be renoticed for August 3rd, 1964. Carried. Moved by Klingelhofer, seconded by Coco that City SIGNAL enter into five year agreement with Signal Maintenance MAINT. Company for flashing signal at First and "D" Streets COMPANY at a charge of $12.00 per month - all as recommended byMr. Wheelock. Moved by Doney, seconded by Mack that Agreement be referred to City attorney before any action taken. Motion and second withdrawn. Above motion authorizing agreement carried. Agreement with state regarding maintenance of state highways explained by Mr. Wheelock. Moved by Klingelhofer, seconded by Mack that Resolution RESOL No. 725, approving Maintenance agreement be read in 725 its entirety. Carried. Moved by Klingelhofer, seconded by Doney that Resolution No. 725 and Agreement be tabled until the next regular meeting. Carried. MCFADDEN Moved by Don~y, seconded by Mack that McFadden Street at Newport Freeway be closed until July 15th. Carried. NEWPORT CLOSED Mr. Doney~reported that ne~otlons with the Irvine Company LAND for land for Fire Station purposes have been taken FOR FIRE ~hder adviseme~t and tha~ other property owners in area STATION are being contracted. Mr. Doney also reported on appraisal of Civic Center property on Second Street. UNDER ADVISEMENT Moved by Klingelhofer, seconded by Doney that the City COMMITTEE proceed with the acquisition of land at 130 and 140 W. FOR PURCH. Second Street and the Mayor be authorized to appoint OF LAND a committee for negotiating purchase. Carried. 300 Mayor appointed City Attorney, Mr. Doney and himself to said committee. RECOM. Following recommendations for changes in Tustin City Code CHANGES relative to solicitors read: TUSTIN CITY CODE 1. To limit door-to-door solicitations to the RELATIVE TO hours of 9:00 0'clock A.M. ~o sunset. SOLICITORS 2. To require all solicitors who are licensed under Employer's Master License to carry with them a certificate of license at all times and to secure the same from the clerk's office uoon.making a $2.00 deposit. Moved by Klingelhofer, seconded by Doney that recommendations presented regarding ordinance covering solicitors in-the City be approved and City attorne~ authorized to draft ordinance to include permission for after-sunset solicitation for non-profit organizations. Carried. PUBLIC Decision of Public Utilities Commission regarding relocation UTIL.COM. of a public street across a railroad and ultimate closing RELOCATION of Holt Avenue at Newport Avenue presented. ~r. Wheelock OF STREET explained estimated costs to be approximately $15,000 including signals with about a $2,000 relmbursement~ It was then directed that said relocation and closing be taken under advisement. CORR. Moved by Mack, seconded by Klingelhofer that correspondense RECIEVED be received and filed. Carried. Moved by Doney, ~conded by Mack that hills 'to the amount of $6,650.68 be paid. Carried.
