ENTRY SIGNS - AUTHORIZATION TO SOLICIT BIOS
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council authorize solicitation of bids for the
installation of new entry signs.
BACKGROUND
As the City Council is aware, a subcommittee of Councilwoman Kennedy and Councilman
Prescott have been working on and selected a design concept for new monument entry
signs for the City. The existing monument sign design along First Street, Irvlne
Blvd., and 17th would be retained. The Committee is still reviewing future pole
sign designs.
_.
In response to direction from the sub-committee, the City's design consultant has
completed the plans for the new entry signs. The proposed sign would be a pre-cast
in place concrete monument s.tgn approximately 4' high by 5' 3" wide. The finish of*
the signs would be sandblasted and the sign would be capped by a double solder row of
brick. Tustin will be identified with letters recessed into the concrete face and
their would be a City logo recessed and placed into the face of the monument sign.
The actual logo plate specifications will be determined upon completion of the
monument based upon mock-up field review of alternatives). Staff have identified the
following initial installation locations:
®
Bryan Avenue west of Jamboree
Jamboree Road North of the I-5 freeway
Irvine Blvd. west of Jamboree
The 1990 Budget authorized the amount of $40,000 for construction of monument signs
at various locations. With final drawings complete, staff recommends Council
authorization to solicit bids for construction of signs at the above noted locations.
