HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC 3 ENTRY SIGNS 09-18-89.,ATE: SEPTEHBER 18, 1989 · CONSENT CALENDAR NO. 3 9-18-89 Inter- Corn TO: FROM: SUBJECT: I/ILLIAM HUSTON, CITY MANAGER COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT ENTRY SIGNS - AUTHORIZATION TO SOLICIT BIOS RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council authorize solicitation of bids for the installation of new entry signs. BACKGROUND As the City Council is aware, a subcommittee of Councilwoman Kennedy and Councilman Prescott have been working on and selected a design concept for new monument entry signs for the City. The existing monument sign design along First Street, Irvlne Blvd., and 17th would be retained. The Committee is still reviewing future pole sign designs. _. In response to direction from the sub-committee, the City's design consultant has completed the plans for the new entry signs. The proposed sign would be a pre-cast in place concrete monument s.tgn approximately 4' high by 5' 3" wide. The finish of* the signs would be sandblasted and the sign would be capped by a double solder row of brick. Tustin will be identified with letters recessed into the concrete face and their would be a City logo recessed and placed into the face of the monument sign. The actual logo plate specifications will be determined upon completion of the monument based upon mock-up field review of alternatives). Staff have identified the following initial installation locations: ® Bryan Avenue west of Jamboree Jamboree Road North of the I-5 freeway Irvine Blvd. west of Jamboree The 1990 Budget authorized the amount of $40,000 for construction of monument signs at various locations. With final drawings complete, staff recommends Council authorization to solicit bids for construction of signs at the above noted locations. Chrlstln& A.
