BACKGROUND
As the Council may recall, the Street Name Committee at a meeting on April 12, 1989
approved a comprehensive street naming concept for East Tusttn as recommended by the
Irvlne Company in correspondence to the Street Naming Committee dated March 30,
1989. In response to concerns expressed by the City Council at their meeting on May
15th, a number of minor modifications have been approved by the Committee as follows:
a list of women golf champions have been added to the list of Golf Champions to be
utilized on Lots 21 and 22 of Tract 12870;-'Falrgate Drive proposed originally to be
renamed "Townsmen"Drive has been modified to be renamed "Township" Drive with those
two corrections the original program remains intact.
The ~ommittee has been regularly reviewing individual builder sites per their adopted
policy and for conformity with the adopted sign program and final maps presented to
the Council are consistent with the adopted program. The Committee has also begun
working with the Irvine Company on a possible program to be recommended to the City
Council that would provide promotional marketing material publicizing the program as
well as a certificate to living relatives of those streets named after local Tustin
pioneers.
