HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC 9 GRADING IMPROV'S 10-02-89RECOMMENDATION: That the Tustin City Council at their meeting of October 2, 1989 authorize staff to accept the grading and drainage improvements along; Jamboree Road between Tustin Ranch Road and the northerly city limits at Station 309+80±. BACKGROUND: The subject project consists of grading and drainage improvements alone Jamboree Road between Tustin Ranch Road on the south end and Santiagcs Canyon Road at the north end of the project. The work on the southerly end of the project within the Tustin city limits has been completed by the contractor, Yeager Construction, to the satisfaction of the Public: Works Department and is ready for acceptance. The work on the northerly end of the project within the City of Orange is still under construction with a scheduled.completion date of mid-November 1989. At their October 2, 1989 meeting, it will be recommended that the City Council award a contract to Sully -Miller Contracting Company for the paving and utility improvements along Jamboree Road between Tustin Ranch Road and Chapman Avenue (Relocated). DISCUSSION: In order to proceed with the paving improvements along Jamboree Road, it will be necessary for the City to accept the public grading and drainage improvements from a portion of the Yeager contract to provide a clear right-of-way work area to Sully -Miller Contracting Co. It is proposed the City accept the _grading and drainage improvements along Jamboree Road between Tustin Ranch Road and the northerly city limits at Station 309+80± This will provide a 1.9 mile stretch of project area for Sully -Miller Co. to commence their work. This date of partial acceptance of work will be coordinated with the start date of the Sully -Miller contract so that the City will not be exposed to being responsible for the project area for any extensive or long-term periods. The notice of completion will not be recorded and no retention monies will be paid to Yeager Construction until such time the entire project is completed and accepted by both Tustin and Orange.
