SUBJECT: SEVENTEENTH STREET MEDIAN ISLAND LANDSCAPING
~ ( INFORMATION REPORT)
BACKGROUND'.
The City Council at their meeting of October 2, 1989 requested an update
and schedule on the placement of median island landscaping along
Seventeenth Street between Yorba Street (north) and Prospect Avenue
(south) .
During the initial construction of the raised medians, the surfaces were
paved entirely with the embossed concrete surface. It was planned later
to remove five squares of the embossed paving (approximately 13 feet
wide by 10 feet long) and plant 6live trees and a ground cover similar
to the median islands along Irvine Boulevard between Prospect Avenue and
Holt Avenue.
DISCUSSION-.
The City CounCil with the approval of the 1989-90 Capital Improvement
Budget designated $12,000 to be budgeted for the planting of these five
trees.
It is anticipated that this work will be completed in late Spring 1989.
This date is subject to the availability of the olive trees as well as
the planting schedule for these trees.
