TO: WILLIAM HUSTON, CITY MANAGER
FROM: DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS/ENGINEERING DIVISION
SUBJECT:
AUTHORIZATION TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR MANUFACTURE AND DELIVERY
OF REINFORCED CONCRETE PIPE, AD 86-2
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council adopt a resolution approving
plans and specifications and authorizing advertisement for bids for the
manufacture and delivery of reinforced concrete pipe, Assessment
District 86-2.
BACKGROUND:
Because eight weeks' lead time is required for manufacture and delivery
of reinforced concrete pipe following placement of an order, it is again
proposed that the City advertise and award a contract for furnishing the
pipe which will be used for storm drain construction throughout the area
comprising Assessment District 86-2. The public hearing for the
formation of the Assessment District is scheduled for the City Council
meeting of July 18, 1988.
Over 37,000 lineal feet of pipe will be supplied under this contract for
which the estimated cost is $3,445,553. The project will be funded with
Assessment District 86-2 bond monies and will provide storm drain pipe
for Jamboree Road, Tustin Ranch Road, Irvine Boulevard, La Colina Drive,
Portola Parkway and the Lower Peter's Canyon Retarding Basin.
