SUBJECT: SEVENTEENTH STREET, YORBA STREET/CARROLL WAY TO
ROUTE 55 FREEWAY (INFORMATIONAL REPORT)
At a previous City Council meeting, a public concern surfaced
regarding the blockage of the intersection at the Seventeenth Street
and Yorba Street/Carroll Way intersection.
The intensity of this in'uersection blockage has increased since the
implementation of the dual left-turn movements from northbound Yorba
Street to westbound Seventeenth due to the additional volume of
vehicles requiring storage on Seventeenth Street in lieu of Yorba
Street south.
Staff has reviewed the traffic signal timing along Seventeehth
Street. at the affected intersections and have made some minor timing
modifications which should improve the intersection blockage
imn~ts. Additionally, "Do Not Block Intersection" signs have been
ordered and Will be posted for all four directions of the
intersections.
The placement of the signs will hopefully minimize the need for
continuous traffic enforcement at the intersection.
