BACKGROUND In late 1988, the City Council appointed a Cultural Resources Advisory Committee which consists of five members, all of whom must reside within the City of Tustin. Pursuant,to the provisions contained in Section 9252C of Ordinance No. 1018 creating the City's Cultural Resources Overlay District. It was the City Council's desire to have a member of the Tustin Are~ Historical Society participate as a member of the Committee to the extent possible. Margaret Pottinger was the original Historical Society member appointed to the Committee by the Council. Unfortunately, she has not been able to attend most Committee meetings and recently resigned her appointment. Staff have received correspondence from Mr. David Nisson, President of the Historical Society requesting that Mr Brent Ferdig be appointed to the Committee. Mr. Ferdig is a resident within the Cultural Resources Overlay District. A Draft Cultural Resources Survey of the City was completed in March of 1989. The Committee over the last several months has been reviewing and field checking the accuracy of the survey, prior to the final document being submitted to the City Council for acceptance.
