HUSTON, crrY MANAGER CO~IIUN ITY SERVICE S DEPARTMENT AUTHORIZATION TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS -DONOR RECOGNITION/FOUNDERS' WALL AND DEDICATION PLAQUES, TUSI~IN A~EA SENIOR CENTER ff ,, RECOMMENDATION' That the Tustin City Council, at their meeting of August 1, 1988, approve the attached specifications for the purchase of two (2) bronze cast plaques for the Tustin Area Senior Center and authorize staff to advertise for bids. BACKGROUND: As Council recalls the Senior Center Construction was partially, funded by private · and business donations. Donors making gifts of $1,000 or more were promised permanent recognition. The Founders' Wall was established to recognize those who contributed towards making the Center construction possible. The dedication plaque usually commemorates a building's dedication and recognizes those responsible for the building's construction. Tentatively the dedication is set for sometime in early Spring i989. Those listed on the dedication plaque include members of the]City Council, Tustin Area Senior Center Fund, Inc. Board of Directors,-Senior Cente' Steering Committee and the consultants. Estimated cost for design, fabrication,, and installation of the two (2) plaques is between $8,000 and $12,000.. Tabulated below is the tentative schedule for this project' City Council authorization to advertise for bids ................................. Bid package may be obtained by prospective bidders at t~e City Clerk's Office, Tustin City Hall, 300 Centennial Way, Tustin, California 92680. The City of Tustin hereby affimatively ensures that minority business enterprises will be afforded full opportunit~ to submit bids in response to this notice and will'not be discriminated against on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, sex or religion in any consideration leading to the award of contract. City of Tustin reserves the. right to reject any or all bids, and/or to waive any infomality on a bid. No bidder may withdraw hi~ bid for ~ period of thirty (30) days after the date se~t for the opening thereof. Prior to bid opening, bidder may withdraw his bid. Bids received after the bid opening time and date stated herein will be returned to bidder unopened.
