If Council approved the event at an April meeting, staff could organize the event in time to celebrate the City' s 60th Anniversary. Finance Director Ron Nault has submitted an application for special event and liquor liability coverage. At this time, it appears that the City will be able to obtain this coverage for the event for approximately $1,500. The City would not be able to indemnify any of the participants. One of the provisions for the City to obtain coverage is that the organization selling the beer and wine must provide their own host liquor liability insurance and name the City as an additionally insured. The Chili Cook-Off Committee could accept proposals from non-profit groups able to secure the insurance coverage, wishing to have the beer and wine concession for the event.
