HomeMy WebLinkAboutNB 3 SB 821 08-15-88~,~ NO. 3 DATE: AUGUST 10, 1988 ~~.~F I TO: WILLIAM HUSTON, CITY MANAGER FROM: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION SUBJECT: SB 821 BICYCLE/PEDESTRIAN FACILITIES, PROJECT APPLICATION FOR FISCAL YEAR 1988-89 RECOMMENDATION: That the City Council adopt a resolution approving the application for Bicycle and/or Pedestrian Funds under SB 821. BACKGROUND: An allocation of $14,580 will be available to the City in FY 88-89 under the SB 821 Program for bicycle or pedestrian facilities. New sidewalk and wheelchair ramp projects are proposed to use all available funds for FY 1988-89 as follows: --- Sidewalk Pro~ ects Sycamore Avenue (South Side) $ 1,950 This will provide continuous concrete sidewalk between Newport Avenue and Red Hill Avenue. Sycamore/Canterbury ( 3 ramps) ...................... 580 1,100 2,200 550 1,100 550 550 2,400 1,800 1,800 Total ramp projects $12,630 · Grand total program $14,580 ~he proposed 1988-89 program is heavy with wheelchair ramps because bids or last year's sidewalk and wheelchair ramp project were higher than the budgeted amount. This forced the Engineering Staff, with City Council concurrence, to eliminate nine wheelchair ramps. The proposed program for 1988-89 will pick up the ones that were dropped last year. Orange County Transportation Commission approval of this application is expected by then. 'Bob Leden~ecker Wisam Altowaij i Director of Public Works/City Engineer Assistant Civil Engineer BL:WA:mv 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 2O 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 88-95 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR BICYCLE AND/OR PEDESTRIAN FUNDS UNDER SB 821 WHEREAS, SB 821 provides that 2% of each County's total local Transportation Fund be annually set aside and used to fund the development of bicycle and pedestrian facilities; and WHEREAS, the City of Tustin desires to provide sidewalk facilities for pedestrian use throughout the entire community; and WHEREAS, the City of Tustin desires to construct the sidewalk facilities within their City utilizing the funds available under SB 821. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Tustin does resolve as follows: 1. To construct pedestrian facilities within this City to the established standards. 2. To authorize Robert S. Ledendecker as the City's authorized signature and designated contact person. 3. To apply for all funds to the City of Tustin allocated for bikeways and pedestrian facilities under SB 821.
