Shingleton Subject: Membership Nomination for Cultural Resources Advisory Committee of Tustin Dear Christine: I am writing to you because I am interested in being nominated to the Cultural Resources Advi-sory Committee. As a resident in the Cultural Resource Overly District I am concerned about how our area is preserved. Since my wife and I are perhaps the youngest owners/residents in the district-- 22 and 25, respectively --I feel that as a Committee member I can offer unique perspectives for enhancing and preserving our area. In addition, I am a Civil Engineer which would qualify me as a member being engaged in a design profession. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at home at 544-3836. Your time and consideration is appreciated. Sincerely, % - wv Jeff R. While there always will be apprehension regarding the exercising of "control" with regard to an owner's right to modify or alter his residence by standards created by a governmental body, generally the members of T.R.U:S.T. (Tustin Residents United to Save Tustin) believe that the cure is still better than the disease. The disease being the past practice and philosophy of the Planning Commission of benign neglect of the heightened awareness of the need to protect and defend the historical significance of Old Town Tustin. I am not generally induced in the area of public policy or stewardship of my non -corporate time, but I feel very strongly that for too long the avoidance of effectively dealing with cultural and historic preservation issues has prevailed in Tustin, and therefore, I would appreciate being considered for the Advisory Board of the Cultural Resources Advisory Committee.
