Assuming no claims or stop payment notices are filed, .it is further recommended that 30 days after the date of recordation of the Notice of Completion, that the Council authorize payment of the final 10% retention amount of $856,691.47. This amount together with the previous payments totaling $7,710,223.22 represents 100% of the final contract amount. 'BACKGROUND: This project consisted of construction of the ultimate E1 Modena-Irvine FO7 Flood Control Channel between the I-5 Freeway and Browning Avenue. All work. has been completed to the satisfaction of the Engineering Division with the final contract amount of $8,566,914.69. This project had an original contract amount of $8,294,078.50 and a contract overrun of $272,836.19 or 3.29%. The cost overruns consisted generally of the following items: Dewatering channel site which was to be done under separate contract, but was added later to the K.E.C. contract ($6o,ooo) ° Installation of additional pipe casings below the channel for future utilities. Omitted on original plans ($28,000) ° Placement of rock and filter fabric in lieu of sand below channel structure. Ommission on plans ($74,700) ° Placement of Mirafi filter fabric under access roads per Flood Control District request .($14,000) ° Additional aggregate base for access roads due to inaccurate quantity calculation on plans ($25,500) .'APRIL 14, 1987 PAGE TWO o Additional 18" reinforaed aonarete pipe due to inacaurate quantity calculation on plans ($29,000) o Removal of additional silt in Browning Avenue box culvert ($16,800) o Extra cost for support of utility poles along Bryan'Avenue ($6,000) B6b Ledendecker Director of Public Works/City Engineer BL: JO :'j m Attachment Je r~y ~ es-on - Assistant Civil Engineer 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 2O 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 87-46 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL oF THE CITY OF TUSTIN ACCEPTING WORKS OF IMPROVEMENT AND AUTHORIZING RECORDATION OF NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR EL MODENA-IRVINE FO7 CHANNEL IMPROVEMENTS - ASSESSMENT DISTRICT 85-1 (PHASE V-A AND V-B) WHEREAS, K.E.C. Company, Inc., having a contract with the City of Tustin to construct the hereinafter described public work and improvement; and WHEREAS, the City Engineer' has duly certified to the construction and completion of said public improvements hereinafter mentioned in a manner satisfactory to the City Council of the City of Tustin; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that said contractor has completed said public improvement hereinafter more particularly described in accordance with the provisions of the contract documents and the notice of completion and acceptance of said public work and improvement should be filed and payment of the balance due said contract authorized in accordance with the contract documents. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Tustin that said public work and .improvement be, and the same is hereby accepted. Said public work and improvement is more particularly describeO as fol 1 ows- EL MODENA-IRVINE FO7 CHANNEL IMPROVEMENTS - ASSESSMENT DISTRICT 85-1 - (PHASE V-A AND V-B) AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Engineer of the City of Tustin be, and is hereby authorized to execute and file a notice of completion and acceptance of said public work and improvement described herein as required by law.
