HUSTON, CITY MANAGER COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT STATUS REPORT ON JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT (,]WA) NOISE*MONITORING PROGRAM, AIRPORT SITE COALITION (ASC) AND THE COALITION FOR A RESPONSIBLE AIRPORT SOLUTION (CRAS) RECOI~ENDATION: Receive and file. O I SCUSSION. ' · JWA - The noise monitoring program continues. Based on conversations with Mr. ~ Houten, there is some misunderstanding with JWA about what type of raw data will be made available to the City for validation purpose. We will be working · , . with the County over the next several weeks on this issue. In response to Council's request, staff has put together a map that depicts the locations of the ILS and LDA (VOR) approach patterns, the locations of the monitoring sites as ltsted, in our previous report, and identifies City boundaries. Several of the monitoring sites are outside of the City's limits. The intention of JWA all along has been to measure noise at resident's homes who volunteer the use of their property, both in the City and in the unincorporated areas. Apparently several residents in North Tustin have phoned in complaints to the City and JWA over the past year-and-a-half. Mr. Van Houten is still working on his report regarding Congressman Badham's proposal to ban visual flight approaches for commercial airliners as well as other air traffic control matters. We hope to be able to include his subsequent report(s) in our next status report. The JWA Noise Abatement Committee held its quarterly meeting on Tuesday, July 13, 1988; due to the timing of that meeting and the preparation of this report, we will discuss the results of that meeting in our next status report.
