HUSTON, CITY MANAGER COINHUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT CULTURAL RESOURCES ADVISORY COMMITTEE RECOP~ENDAT]:ON: Pleasure of the City Council. BACKGROUND '. i At their regular meeting of August 15, 1988 and September 6, 1988, the City Council continued this item. Attached for Council's information are those requests for appointment received to date. Although ~o letter is attached, the Historical Society nominee to the Cultural Resources Committee is Margaret Pottenger. The Council at their pleasur~ may wish to schedule interviews or make direct appointments. The Cultural Resources Advisory. Committee will act solely, in an advisory capacity · to the City Council in matters affecting the City's recently established Cultural Resources District, designation of noteworthly cultural and historical resources in the community and as a liasion between residents, property owners and the City Council in the "Old Town" area. The Committee will consist of five members. The Ordinance requires at least three Committee members to reside or own property in the residential areas within the established Cultural Resources District. The following applicants reside in the District: John Sauers; Richard Vining; Jeff Thompson and Robert Edgel 1. The Cultural Resources Ordinance also states that it is desirous for the Committee to have among its membership at least one person engaged in architecture or a design profession, one person with a demonstrated interest and knowledge in local history and historical preservation, one person engaged in business within a designated Cultural Resources District, and a member of the Tustin Area Historical Society. The original appointment of the members of the Advisory Committee would be as follows' two members for 3 years; three members for four years. Christine A.
