I TO: WILLIAM HUSTON, CITY MANAGER FROM: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION SUBJECT: AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR WATER MAIN IMPROVEMENTS ON ARROYO AVENUE, PROJECT NO. 600066 RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council award the contract for subject project to RLT Construction, Inc., in the amount of $112,545.00. BACKGROUND: On September 6, 1988, the City Council approved plans and specifications and authorized the advertisement for bids for the subject project. DISCUSSION-. Sealed bids for this work were opened on September 27, 1988 at 10:00 k.M. and were received as follows: RLT Construction, Inc., Anaheim Continental Piping & Const., Los Alamitos Spear Pipeline Construction, Orange Miki Construction, Woodland Hills Loant Construction, Buena Park Ruiz Engineering, Long Beach Majich Bros., Pasadena Wilsons Equipment Rental, Ontario '$112,545.00 $143,776.25 $144,419.75 $145,480.15 $151,134.00 $154,949.50 $156,496.00 $175,547.00 The low bid is $112,545.00, or about 29% below the Engineer's estimate of $156,000.
