Background The radios and radio equipment referred to in Resolution No. 88- 120 were utilized by the old Tustin Fire Department. The Police Department has been storing this equipment since the Fire Department was disbanded. The radios are not compatible with any existing public safety frequencies. The technology of the radios makes potential conversion to existing safety frequencies cost prohibitive. The American Red Cross uses a radio frequency for disasters which is close enough to the frequencies on these radios to make conversion by the Red Cross feasible for its use. The Red Cross is interested in acquiring the radios for use in its emergency services efforts. The City Attorney has reviewed the recommendation Cegarding this equipment and has approved the resolution to transfer the radios to the American Red Cross.
