PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/MAINTENANCE DIVISION
SUBJECT: AWARD OF BID FOR PURCHASE OF BACKHOE FOR WATER LINE REPAIR
RECOMMENDATION:
Request the Tustin City Council, at their regular meeting of May 4, 1987,
authorize the purchase of a Ford backhoe for the Water Department.
BACKGROUND:
The 1986-87 Annual Budget authorized replacement of a Water Department backhoe.
This item was budgeted at $46,500, and funds will come from the Vehicle Leasing
Fund.
The purchase price shown of $32,827.08 is the low bid for the backhoe. There will
be an additional $1,275.00 needed for extra buckets of varying sizes. The
existing John Deere buckets will not fit this new Ford. The cost with additional
expense included is still less than a John Deere without new buckets.
The buckets would be needed with the Riverside Ford Tractor bid, keeping it the
second low bid.
Four bids were received and are as follows:
Orange Coast Ford Tractors
Riverside Ford Tractors
John Deere - Coast Line Equipment
Case Power & Equipment
$32,827.08
$33,626.OO
$46,268.23
$54,300.00
