BACKGROUND: Dorothy Patton expressed a concern that the medians on Newport Avenue and Redhill Avenue were being overwatered and the streets were wet due to this overwatering. As indicated in my verbal response to City Council On November 2, 1987, the median irrigation system was still on the warm/dry weather irrigation schedule. These schedules will be converted to a winter schedule of less frequent irrigation cycles once the climate changes to a consistently cooler temperature. The overspray to the pavement is caused by the location of the sprinkler heads adjacent to the median curbs and the pattern of spray, as well as the air motions generated by passing vehicles. Richard Vining expressed two concerns regarding the recent Main Street improve- ments: 1. When the painting of the pavement markings for parking spaces adjacent to the curb would be completed. 2. Various water meter and gas meter boxes have settled and require adjustment to grade. The painting of the pavement marking have been completed by City staff and the contractor, Sully-Miller, has indicated that the various meter boxes will be adjusted to grade within two weeks from November 5, 1987.
