HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC 11 TRAFFIC SIG MOD 12-07-87TO: FROM: SUBJECT: WILLIAM HUSTON, CITY MANAGER PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION AUTHORIZATION TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL MODIFICATIONS, FEDERAL AID PROJECT HES-000S (241) II RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached resolution approving the plans and specifications for subject project and. authorizing advertisement for bids. BACKGROUND This project provides for upgrading and modification of traffic signals at four locations: Newport Avenue and Irvi~e Boulevard Newport Avenue and First Street Newport Avenue and E1 Camino Real Red Hill Avenue and Bryan Avenue The modifications consist of new controllers, poles, heads, internal illuminated street name signs, left-turn phasing, and vehicle detectors. The construction cost is estimated at $120,000 with $97,000 funded by the Federal Hazard Elimination Safety (HES) Program and the balance of $22,800 from the City Redevelopment funds. Wolfed Engineering Se~rvices Manager 1 3 5 6 7 8 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 2O 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 87-147 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR FEDERAL AID PROJECT HES-000S (241) AND AUTHORIZING ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS WHEREAS, it is the intention of the City Council of the City of Tustin, California to construct certain signal improvements at Newport Avenue and Irvine Boulevard, Newport Avenue and First Street, Newport Avenue and E1 Camino Real, and Red Hill Avenue and Bryan Avenue; WHEREAS, the City Engineer has presented plans and specifications for the construction of said work; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the plans and specifi-~ cations presented by the City Engineer be and are hereby approved as the plans and specifications for: Federal Aid Project HES-000S (241) BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to advertise as required by law for the receipt of sealed bids or proposals for the doing of the work specified in the aforesaid plans and specifications.
