HUSTON, CITY MANAGER COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT LAMBERT SCHOOL LEASE RENEWAL RECOMMENDATION: Renew the lease with the Tustin Unified School District for the use of Lambert School for a period of one year commencing February 1, 1988 and ending January 31, 1989, and authorize Mayor to execute same. ~: ..F. ISCAL IMPACT: Lease fee increased 7.2 percent to cover increases in District operating costs over a two-year period. (There was no 1987 increase.) Sufficient revenue is generated by City fee and charge programs based at Lambert School to cover the lease fee of $20,040. BACKGROUND: Since 1979 the City has leased approximately 6,000 square feet in classroom space from the Tustin Unified School District. This facility houses numerous recreation classes for children and adults, a ti ny tot program, day camp programs and provides occasional meeting space or practice facilities for other community programs. Over 3,000 participants were involved in recreation activities and classes at Lambert School during 1987, generating sufficient revenue to cover the cost of the 1 ease. As part of the agreement Tustin Unified School District provides maintenance, repairs, and utilities. The annual lease is a cost effective way of providing Community Services Programs. Lambert School has become a very valuahle and necessary recreation facility. Until City-owned facilities are built or acquired, the renewal of this lease is essential for the City to maintain the high level of service provided to the community.
