SUBJECT:
William A. Huston', City Manager
Administrative Services Department
Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) Dues
RECOMMENDATION
.. J
Pleasure of the City Council.
BACKGROUND
The City Manager's Office has received ยท an invoice for Tustin's
SCAG membership dues for Fiscal Year 1987-88 in the amount of
81,112. This item was not included in the budget, and staff
desires Council direction.
As Council is aware, a City-County coordination evaluation
committee is being formulated to discuss the possibilities for
better city-county cooperation, coordination, and a possible
Orange County Association of Governments (OCAG). A study done on
this subject reviews a variety of alternatives from using
existing forums to dropping out of SCAG and creating an Orange
County Association of Governments (essentially a' "SCAG"
exclusively for Orange County). This evaluation process is
ongoing and it may be premature to drop SCAG membership at this
time.
