WILLIAM HUSTON, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
TUSTIN COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION
SUBJECT: NEWPORT/McFADDEN AVENUE UNDERGROUND UTILITY DISTRICT NO. 10
(FILE NO. 2728)
RECOMMENDATION:
Pleasure of the Tustin Community Redevelopment Agency.
BACKGROUND'.
On January 18, 1988, the Tustin city Council adopted Resolution No.
88-6 establishing Underground Utility District No. 10. After the
discussion period of the public hearing, Council expressed a concern
regarding the funding the cost of private property service .conversions.
' %aff had recommended that the Redevelopment Agency fund these
~nversion costs. City Council indicated that the property owners
within a previously completed E1 Camino Real Underground District No. 5
were required.to fund their conversion costs and they were concerned
the property owners were not being treated equally.
DISCUSSION:
Staff has prepared a report that is on the 3-7-88 City Council Agenda
which addresses the previous Council concerns. Depending upon what
action the Council pursues, Staff has agendized this funding item on
the Agency agenda for 3-7-88.
In the event the City Council pursues an action other than utilizing
Redevelopment Agency funding for private property conversions, then no
action is required on this item. If the City Council approves the use
of Redevelopment Agency Funds for private property conversions, then it
is requested that a Supplemental 1987-88 Budget appropriation in the
amount of $4250.00 be authorized.
