~ ) NO. 3
TO:
FROM:
WILLIAM HUSTON, CITY MANAGER
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION
SUBJECT: EL CAMINO REAL STREET IMPROVEMENT BID AWARD
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Tustin City Council at their meeting of May 16, 1988 authorize
the setting of a special City Council meeting for Monday, May 23, 1988
to award the bid for the E1 Camino Real Street Improvements Between the
E1 Modena-Irvine Channel and Jamboree Road.
BACKGROUND:
On April 18, 1988 the Tustin City Council authorized the advertisement
of bids for street improvements along that portion of E1 Camino Real
between the E1 Modena-Irvine Channel and Jamboree Road, This
mprovement project is included within Assessment District No. 85-1 and
will be funded jointly by that District and the developers of the Tustin
Marketplace.
DISCUSSION:
Due to the accelerated schedule of the Tustin Marketplace development
and desired opening date of the STOR facility on September 1, 1988, the
developer is requesting a special City Council meeting on Monday, May
23, 1988 so that the street improvement contract can be awarded. This
early award date (5-23-88) in lieu of the normal June 6th date will
provide two additional weeks of construction time for the project and
will help accomplish the desired opening date of September 1st for the
STOR facility.
In the event the City Council desires to hold a special meeting for this
bid award action, it is suggested that an earlier time of 5:00 P.M. be
designated so as not to conflict with the regularly scheduled Planning
Commission meeting.
