City Council action as deemed appropriate.
BACKGROUND:
At a regular meeting' on July 6th the City Council reviewed the status of
alternatt've flight approaches at John Wayne Airport. In response to their
discussion, the City Council was approached by Mr. Btll Lucas, a Tustin resident
and flight pilot regarding noise problems related to descending fltghts
approaching the John Wayne Airport. As a result of Mr. Lucas' testimony and
numerous additional complaints received by other Tustin residents, the City
Council requested that discussion of airport noise problems be agendized for
their meeting on July 20, 1987.
In response to City Council concerns, staff have requested that two
representatives from the FAA and Airport Department be available to discuss
airport operation and noise concerns of the City Council Including the following
items:

Proper descent routes
Glide slope guidelines
Proper flight altitudes
Flight No. 758 (recorded at lOOdBA's)
Noise abatement procedures
Noise testing
Noise levels which constitute a violation on recorded violations.
Staff have also been working with the Airport Noise Abatement office for
placement of additional noise monitoring equipment in those portions of the City
where the predominance of complaints on airport noise are occurring. It is
expected that at least one piece of noise monitoring equipment will be placed in
the Old Town vicinity before the end of the month.
