HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC 9 REPLACE UNIT 08-18-86il~ A r [~,1 r~ ~ ~ CONSENT CALENDAR DATE: AUGUST 11, 1986 TO: FROM: SU BJ ECT: WILLIAN HUSTON, CITY ~U~GER PUBLIC WORKS DEPARll4ENT, ENGINEERING DIVISION Aull(ORI/_ATION TO REPLACE UNIT 5620 RECOMMENDATION: Request the Tustin City Council, at their regular meeting of August 18, 1986, to authorize the replacement of Unit 5620 with funds from the Vehicle Leasing Fund. BACKGROUND: Each year, all vehicles and rolling stock are evaluated to determine their life expectancy and to set a lease rate value with respect to this expectancy and the current market value of the replacement equipment. Unit 5620, a 1973 Ford Flatbed truck, was due to be replaced in 1987. Due to increased utilization, this replacement date needs to be moved forward. Since Unit 5620 is inoperable, at this time, and is vitally needed for day to day operations, staff requests Council to authorize the replacement of this equipment. The replacement costs will be taken from the Vehicle Leasing Fund. The replacement cost for this vehicle is $19,000; there is currently $18,400 in the fund for replacement of this unit.
