Aull(ORI/_ATION TO REPLACE UNIT 5620
RECOMMENDATION:
Request the Tustin City Council, at their regular meeting of August 18, 1986, to
authorize the replacement of Unit 5620 with funds from the Vehicle Leasing Fund.
BACKGROUND:
Each year, all vehicles and rolling stock are evaluated to determine their life
expectancy and to set a lease rate value with respect to this expectancy and the
current market value of the replacement equipment.
Unit 5620, a 1973 Ford Flatbed truck, was due to be replaced in 1987. Due to
increased utilization, this replacement date needs to be moved forward. Since
Unit 5620 is inoperable, at this time, and is vitally needed for day to day
operations, staff requests Council to authorize the replacement of this
equipment. The replacement costs will be taken from the Vehicle Leasing Fund.
The replacement cost for this vehicle is $19,000; there is currently $18,400 in
the fund for replacement of this unit.
