Resolution approving the application for bicycle and/or pedestrian S.B. 821 and direct staff to submit the application for sidewalk along Prospect Avenue, Newport Avenue and Red Hill Avenue. BACKGROUND: Pass and adopt the attached funds under construction The current application is for fiscal year 1986-87 S.B. 821 monies in the amount of $14,944.00 and has been prepared for two types of pedestrian facility projects. The first type of project provides for the construction of conventional sidewalk where segments are currently missing along Prospect Avenue, Newport Avenue and Red Hill Avenue. The second type of project provides for the construction of handicapped ramps at twenty locations throughout the City. Past actions of the City Council have indicated that they were not in favor of continuing the handicapped ramp installation program. This type of project is submitted only as an available option for the Council to consider if they so desire. DISCUSSION: Applications have been prepared for both types of projects. The adoption of the attached Resolution will be' applicable for either application. The sidewalk project provides for the construction of three missing segments of sidewalk as follows: ° Easterly side of Prospect Avenue southerly of Beneta Way and adjacent to the future Columbus-Tustin Park. ° Westerly side of Newport Avenue northerly of McFadden Avenue and adjacent to 14217-225 Newport Avenue. ° Westerly side of Red Hill Avenue southerly of Service Road and adjacent to the City Maintenance Facility. AUGUST 12, 1986 PAGE TWO The handicapped ramp project provides for the construction of sidewalk ramps at the following intersections: Intersection Number of Ramps Newport Avenue at Andrews Street Newport Avenue at Bonita Street E1Camino Real at Orange Street First Street at Pacific/Yorba Streets Seventeenth Street at Treehaven Prospect Avenue at Beneta Way Beneta Way at Shasta Way Mitchell Avenue at Utt Drive Red Hill Avenue at E1Camino Real Red Hill Avenue at Nisson Road Either one of the above mentioned projects will utilize all of the S.B. 821 monies made available to the.City for fiscal year 1986-87. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Tustin does resolve as follows: 1. To construct sidewalk facilities within their City to the established standards of the City of Tustin. 2. To authorize Robert S. Ledendecker as the City's authorized signature and designated contact person; 3. To apply for all funds available to the City of Tustin allocated for bikeways and pedestrian facilities {SB 821).
