S.B. 821 BICYCLE/PEDESTRIAN FACILITIES PRO~ECT APPLICATION FOR
FISCAL YEAR 1986-87
RECOMMENDATION:
For the City Council meeting of August 18, 1986.
Resolution approving the application for bicycle and/or pedestrian
S.B. 821 and direct staff to submit the application for sidewalk
along Prospect Avenue, Newport Avenue and Red Hill Avenue.
BACKGROUND:
Pass and adopt the attached
funds under
construction
The current application is for fiscal year 1986-87 S.B. 821 monies in the amount
of $14,944.00 and has been prepared for two types of pedestrian facility
projects. The first type of project provides for the construction of conventional
sidewalk where segments are currently missing along Prospect Avenue, Newport
Avenue and Red Hill Avenue. The second type of project provides for the
construction of handicapped ramps at twenty locations throughout the City.
Past actions of the City Council have indicated that they were not in favor of
continuing the handicapped ramp installation program. This type of project is
submitted only as an available option for the Council to consider if they so
desire.
DISCUSSION:
Applications have been prepared for both types of projects. The adoption of the
attached Resolution will be' applicable for either application.
The sidewalk project provides for the construction of three missing segments of
sidewalk as follows:
° Easterly side of Prospect Avenue southerly of Beneta Way and
adjacent to the future Columbus-Tustin Park.
° Westerly side of Newport Avenue northerly of McFadden Avenue and
adjacent to 14217-225 Newport Avenue.
° Westerly side of Red Hill Avenue southerly of Service Road and
adjacent to the City Maintenance Facility.
AUGUST 12, 1986
