PROPOSED PATE INCREASE FOR COI~)NITY CABLEVISION
RECOMMENDATION:
For the City Council meeting of September 2, 1986.

BACKGROUND:
Community Cablevision has proposed a rate increase to be effective October 1,
1986. As is indicated in the attached letter, the company has substantially
increased their service to the community within the past few months.
Due to the enactment of the Cable Act of 1984, cable companies are entitled to
increase their rates five percent. (5%) annually without agency approval. Also, as
indicated in the attached letter, the company is implementing less of an increase
than is prescribed by law.

In accordance with 'our policy of keeping the City and its officials
Informed, this letter Is to let you know that Community Cablevlsion
Company plans to Implement a moderate increase In basic rates, effective
October 1, 1986.
In' June of this year, we substantially enhanced our channel lineup with
the addition of nine new subscriber-requested programming services. The
cost of adding these new channels, coupled with Increased fees for our
other programming and generally higher costs of operations, has made it
necessary to implement an Increase in rates at this time.
The monthly rates for our basic services as of October 1, 1986, will be:
