HUSTON, CITY MANAGER COMMUNIIT SERVICES DEPARTMENT RESOLUTION APPROVING APPLICATION FOR 1986 STA'II[ REGIONAL COMPETITIVE GRANT RECOMMENDATION: Approve Resolution #86-114 authorizing the application for 1984 Park Bond Act funds through the 1986 State Regional Competitive Program in the amount of $100,000. BACKGROUND: This is the third and final cycle of the State Regional Competitive Program. $25 million is available this budget year for the ten regions in the State. This is a competitive program which requires no local match, and staff has been successful in obtaining these scarce funds for the past two years. Staff recommends that these grant funds be used to fund improvements at Pinetree Park. Improvements would include the development of a large picnic-shade shelter, the upgrade of the play equipment, the removal of the wading pool, and replacement with an additional play area. In April 1986, the Wakefield Company did an extensive audit of all of our parks, and recommended these improvements. If awarded the grant, these funds would become available July 1, 1987. Susan M.
