SUBJECT: SUPPORT FOR NORTH TUSTXN SPECIFIC PLAN
RECOIqMENDATZON:
M.O. It is recommended that the City Council take action to officially support
the North Tustin Specific Plan.
BACKGROUND
Tn conjunction with Annexation No. 140, there has been considerable concern
about what the status of the North Tusttn Specific Plan would be in the event of
annexation to the City of Tustin. The Specific Plan adopted in 1982 was a
culmination of numerous community meetings and discussions and was strongly
supported.by residents in Annexation 140.
Section 9213 of the Municipal Code provides that any territory annexed to the
City shall be designated by the zone which the territory was under inthe County
Zoning Ordinance, provided that the City has a Zoning District bearing the same
designation. Since there currently is no designation for the North Tustin
Specific Plan area comparable to a Zoning Designation in Tustin, it would be
appropriate for the City Council to publicly support the North Tustin Specific
Plan including a committment to initiate whatever Zoning amendments necessary to
adopt said Specific Plan in the event of annexation.
