AWARD OF BID FOR THE PURCHASE OF A CUSHMAN SCOOTER FOR
WATER METER READING
RECOMMENDATION:
Request the Tustin City Council, at their regular meeting of October 22, 1986,
authorize the purchase of a Cushman Scooter for water meter reading from Pacific
Irrigation and Equipment, Inc. of Industry for $7,018.76.
BACKGROUND:
When adopting the 1986-87 fiscal budget, Council authorized the replacement of a
Cushman Scooter for Water Operations. This replacement will be funded from the
Vehicle Leasing Fund. The estimated budget replacement cost was $7,000.00.
Low bidder is not the recommended supplier, as their warranty provision of the bid
was not sufficient to serve the best interest of the City. The low bidders
warranty did not include service calls or transportation charges which can be
critical at times. The difference between low bid and the recommended bid award
is $36.04.
Five bids were initiated and four bids were submitted. The bids were as follows:
Pacific Equipment
Franksons Incorporated
Mission Chemical, Inc.
West Star Distributing
Industry $7,018.76
Glendale 6,982.72
