PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION
ONE YEAR EXTENSION OF TME CONTRJ&CT FOR THE ANNUAL ASPHALT CONCRETE
PAVEMENT REPAIR PROGRAM
RECOMMENDATION:
Request the Tustin City Council, at their regular meeting of December 1, 1986,
extend the contract for the Annual Asphalt Concrete Pavement Repair Program for
one year with R.J. Noble Co. for an estimated cost of $181,273.70.
BACKGROUND:
The City currently contracts for asphaltic concrete repairs. In 1983, the
existing contract was awarded to R.J. Noble Company; the terms of the contract was
for three years with the second and third year renewals subject to satisfactory
performance. The company's performance has been far above the satisfactory
level. Because of the work currently in progress and the work proposed in the
near future, staff feels the interest of the City would best be served if the
R.J. Noble contract was extended for one year.
Staf~ contacted them. contractor.to ascertain if he would be willng to extend the
contract for one year and to maintain costs within the Consumer Price Index limits
as prescribed by the existing contract. The contractors letter of affirmation to
the aforementioned request is on file. The Consumer Price Index rose 3.36%.
