HUSTON, CITY MANAOER COMMUNITY SERV'[CES DEPARTMENT LAMBERT SCHOOL LEASE RENEWAL RECOMMENDATION: Renew the lease with the Tustln Unified School Oistrlct for the use of Lambert School for a period of one year commencing February 1, 1987, and ending January 31, 1988. FISCAL IMPACT: Lease fee the same as 1986 Agreement. Sufficient revenue is generated by the fee and charge programs based at Lambert School to cover the lease fee of $1R,600. RACKGROUHD: Since 1982, the City has leased approximately 6,000 square feet in classroom space from the Tustin Unified. School District. This facility houses numerous recreation classes, a tiny tot program and provides occasional meeting or practice facilities for community programs. Over 3,000 participants were involved in recreation classes and activities at Lambert School during the budget year 1985/86. For that same period, these classes and activities generated in excess of $80,000 revenue, which after expenses of instructors' payments and supplies, over $25,000 remained. This more than adequately covers the cost of the lease. As part of the agreement, the Tustin Unified School 0istrlct provides maintenance, repairs and utilities. In view of the revenues the use of the facility provides, the annual lease cost of $18,600 is a very cost-effective way of providing Community Services Programs. Lambert School has become a very valuable and necessary recreation facility for the City of Tustin. In order to keep the high level of service provided to the community, and until City-owned facilities are built or acquired, it seems that the renewal of this lease is essential.
