HONORABLE MAYOR & HEHBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
WILLIAM A. HUSTON, CITY MANAGER
VISUAL FLIGHT RULES - JOHN NAYNE AIRPORT
RECOMMENDATION
Pleasure of the City Council.
BACKGROUND
Staff received information indicating that the North Tustin Municipal
Advisory Council has adopted a resolution similar to the attached. The
resolution provides that the County of Orange and the Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA) should adopt regulations which would require general and
commercial aircraft arriving at or departing from John Wayne Airport to
parallel the Newport Freeway (SR-55). Such a requirement would result in a
significant decrease in the number of overflights in residential areas.
