AND BROWNING AVE., ASSESSMENT DISTRICT NO. 85-1 RECOMMENDATION: That the Tustin City Council at their meeting of September 8, 1987 award the contract of street/utility improvements on Irvine Blvd., Bryan Ave. and Browning Ave. to the low bidder, Sully-Miller Contracting Company of Orange, in the amount of $2,387,211.62. BACKGROUND: On July 20, lg87, the Tustin City Council approved the plans and specifications for the subject street improvement/utility project and authorized the advertisement of bids for said work. This project is a part of East Tustin Assessment District No. 85-1 and will be funded by said Assessment District. DISCUSSION: Three sealed bids were received and opened at 10:00 a.m. oh August 27, 1987 and are sunmnarized as follows: Sully-Miller Contracting Company, Orange ........................... $2,387,211.62 Griffith Company, Santa Ana ........... ' ............................. $2,650,121.85 Blair Paving Company, Anaheim ...................................... $2,854,855.29 The low bid is 10.6% under the engineer's estimate of $2,670,577.95. A detailed bid item summary is attached for the City Council's information. Sully-Miller Contracting Company was the low bidder on two adjacent street improvement projects within the Assessment District area and was also awarded that contract.
