WILLIAM A. HUSTON, CITY t4ANAGER
SURPLUS SCHOOLS SITES
RECOHMENOATION
Pleasure of the City Council.
BACKGROUND
The City Council received a memorandum from the City Attorney which outlines
the options available to the City with regard to the purchase of surplus
school sites. The School District has declared several sites as surplus, one
of which, the District Office, is situated within the City.
If the City Council desires to negotiate the acquisition of a surplus school
site, it must notify the School District by March 20, 1987. The City and
District would then have sixty {60) days to negotiate the terms of a
purchase. During that period, appraisals would have to be prepared and the
purchase price and terms negotiated, unless the parties agreed to an
extension of time. The City would al so have to assess the financial
feasibility of any purchase and the use of any site acquired.
